Domenick C. DiCicco Jr., J.D., M.B.A., SVP, Chief Legal Officer, NAC Claims, Zurich Financial Services

Dynamic insurance counsel/executive with a M.B.A. from a major university and 18 years of broad insurance experience. Currently serve as Chief Legal Officer for Zurich North America's Claims Operations.

Prior to current position, served as Head of Global Litigation Management and Global Complex Claims for Zurich. Lead team of international attorneys who manage select claims for the company for cases valued over $10 million including granting authority for cases over $25 million. Developed the organization’s first Global Complex Claim Management Team to manage the company’s largest cases. Developed and instituted Global wide Best Practices for the management of complex cases that resulted in substantial financial contribution to global claim operations. Currently developing the industry’s first training program in global complex claim management.  Part of audit team that measures compliance and performs training for all business units of the organizations.

Former business & litigation partner in established Philadelphia law firm. Partner responsibilities involve all litigation and business transactions work for the firm.  Critical thinker and adept negotiator with strong litigation and dispute resolution skills.  Outstanding academic accomplishments include summa cum laude M.B.A. honors.  Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.  Published author and active seminar speaker.

 

Jim Hammonds, FCLS, GEICO SIU - SE, Atlanta Field Office

Jim Hammonds started with GEICO in July 2003. Prior to this, he spent nine years with the Decatur Police Department, serving as a Sergeant over a patrol shift and the Traffic Unit. He previously served as a Field Training Officer and K-9 Handler.

Jim has completed Cause & Origin training at the state Arson Academy as well as Level 1 & 2 of the Georgia Fire Academy. He is an Accident Reconstructionist and has been sworn as an expert witness in court.

 

C. Michael Mattix, Vice President, Claims & Liability Management, Swiss Re Underwriters Agency Inc.

Michael Mattix has thirty-one years experience in the insurance industry, beginning his career as an attorney in private practice specializing in insurance defense matters.  He has more than 20 years experience in managing primary, excess and reinsurance claims with an emphasis in workers compensation an professional liability claims.

Michael currently is Vice President, Claims and Liability Management for Swiss Reinsurance America.  He formerly built and managed a state-of-the-art claims and financial transactional audit team, and developed and led Swiss Re’s client claim consulting group.  He is a recognized expert in claims management, process redesign and effecting change within organizations, and is a frequent speaker on these subjects. 

 

Steven Rutzebeck, Director of SIU/Claims Security, GEICO
 
Steven Rutzebeck has been with GEICO since December 1999.   In June of 2000 he assumed the position of Director of SIU/Claims Security.  GEICO currently has a contingent of over 300 investigators in SIU. 

Mr. Rutzebeck came to GEICO after retiring as a Captain from Maryland State Police after 25 years of service.  During his career with the Maryland State Police he served in a number of management capacities including Commander of  Professional Development, Commander of Training, Associate Director Mid-Atlantic Regional Community Policing Institute at Johns Hopkins University, Commander of the Violent Crime Strike Force and the Commander of the Crime Prevention Unit.  He also supervised the agency’s Analytical and Tactical Sections within the Criminal Intelligence Division. He was also a nationally recognized educator on topics such as community policing, strategic planning, organizational change, time management, problem solving and facilitation.
