2007 Secondary Life Insurance Market Analysis: The Year in Review
The Life Policy Dynamics, LLC ("LPD") market analysis provides a summary of economic values for life insurance policies traded in the secondary market. This session will show the market analysis tracks of actual transactions and trends that have occurred each quarter since January 2006. The analysis provides a quality measurement of market variables such as: average purchase price as part of net bench value, average face value of policies, and average age of insureds. The LPD analysis also examines the consistency of life expectancy underwriters among a population of insureds, and compares at what amount policies with similar characteristics are trading.

Life Settlements in the Tertiary Market - The Anatomy of a 2007 Trade
Life insurance policies acquired from seniors in the U.S. has become an attractive non-correlated asset for many large institutional investors worldwide. A properly structured portfolio can produce equity-type returns with a default risk superior to A+ or AA rated bonds. As the life settlement market has grown and matured, there is now a ready tertiary market for re-selling portfolios. This presentation will use a 2007 trade between two institutional investors as a case study to illustrate the dynamics, opportunities and pitfalls inherent in re-selling portfolios.
