Alphonse J. Briand, Jr, Managing Director, Treasury Services Product Management Division Head, Bank of New York Mellon

Alphonse J Briand, Jr. is a Managing Director at The Bank of New York Mellon and heads the Product Management Division for the Bank's Treasury Services. In this capacity, Al manages product development initiatives, market positioning and product planning for the Trade Finance, Global Payments, and Working Capital Solutions product lines. Additionally, Al served as co-head of the Treasury Services merger integration process during the first half of 2007.  Active in industry dialogue, he has served on the business committee of the Electronic Payments Network (EPN), and was co-chair of a BITS Payment Roadmap Working Group Initiative focused on cross payment channel risk. In 2006, he served as the Chairman for The Clearinghouse's Strategic Forum.

Al has been a speaker at various industry conferences over the years, including the Association for Financial Professionals, Windy City Summit and New York Cash Exchange. He has been a featured participant in Global Finance Magazine's industry roundtable discussions and cunently serves on the editorial board for Treasury Management International magazine.

Al joined The Bank of New York in 2003 from JPMorgan Chase where he spent the prior 18 years. At JPMorgan Chase and its predecessor organizations, Al had a series of assignments in the disciplines of product management, strategic planning, and business management for the Treasury Management, Investor Services and Asset Management business lines. He is a graduate of the Boston College Canoll School of Management Honors Program and the Wharton School Advanced Management Program.

Frank Fiorille, Director- Enterprise Risk Management, Paychex, Inc.

Frank is the Director of Enterprise Risk Management at Paychex, a leading provider of payroll, human resource, and benefits outsourcing solutions for small- to medium-sized businesses.  The company has more than 100 offices and serves almost 600,000 payroll clients nationwide.
Fiorille has over 20 years experience in risk management and credit and joined Paychex in 2002 to lead the company's initiative to build an enterprise wide risk apparatus.

Before joining Paychex he spent four years with PNC Financial in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania working in their Corporate Credit Policy area overseeing various commercial and consumer risk units and reporting directly to the Chief Credit Officer of the company.  Prior to his work with PNC, he spent twelve years with Citigroup in New York holding various risk management and credit roles within their U.S consumer bank.
He is an also graduate of the inaugural 2007 class at the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania advanced risk management program. In 2008 he was chose as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Finance by Treasury & Risk Magazine and is a Risk Manger of the Year award-Finalist -2009-(RIMS) Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc.

He is also credited for leading very successful projects to build the first risk and retention models in both the educational lending and payroll outsourcing industries.  He has also spent time working internationally by teaching and facilitating strategic risk management courses for senior level executives.

 

Timothy P Gannon, Managing Director, New Businesses, INTTRA

Timothy P Gannon is the Managing Director, New Businesses for one of INTTRA’s newest ventures in the electronic invoicing and payment space.  In this capacity, he is leading a team partnered with Deutsche Bank to introduce workflow products to facilitate carrier invoice delivery, dispute dialogue, and payment.

Gannon previously served as Vice President of Product Management for INTTRA.  In this role, Gannon was responsible for managing INTTRA’s product portfolio.

Prior to joining INTTRA, Gannon spent five years leading the application development of international logistics systems for Schenker, Inc.

Before entering the transportation and logistics industry, Gannon developed his information technology skills focusing on the design and delivery of business application software in the wholesale manufacturing and distribution industry. Gannon began his career with Deloitte, Haskins and Sells, where he worked for two years as a staff accountant.

Gannon holds a BBA in Accounting from Saint Bonaventure University.

Jason Halpern, Product Manager, FXpress

Mr. Halpern oversees the direction and design of the foreign exchange and commodity solutions of FIRST™, FXpress’ SAAS treasury solution which simplifies and automates core processes to help global corporations manage risk and comply with FAS, IAS and Sarbanes-Oxley guidelines.  Most recently he has co-presented two webinars on the proposed changes to FAS 133.  Prior to joining FXpress he worked with several companies to streamline, automate and audit their financial reporting systems.

He is a CTP who holds an MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University in Corporate Finance, Strategy and Entrepreneurship and a BA in Economics and International Relations from Tufts University.

Edward Heitin, Partner, Structured Finance Group, Treasury Services Sector, PricewaterhouseCoopers

Mr. Heitin has over 15 years of experience servicing clients in the financial services, high-tech, consumer products, industrial products, pharmaceutical and professional services industries. He spends a significant portion of his year performing audits  and providing advice to his clients surrounding operations, controls and the application of accounting rules. 

Mr. Heitin has extensive experience in working with derivative and hedging activities, commercial paper conduits, SIV's, CDO's, REMICS, Grantor Trusts and other structured finance vehicles. Mr. Heitin is a recognized expert in the application of SFAS 133, SFAS 140 and SFAS 157, is an active participant in the development of the Firm's positions related to the FASB's Interpretation No. 46R, and has been a guest speaker on each of these topics at numerous securitization forums.

John Herrick, Project Manager, Treasury Strategies

As Project Manager for Treasury Strategies, John Herrick brings 25 years of global treasury and finance experience to his work with corporate clients. 

Mr. Herrick has worked for Exxon, Allied-Signal (Honeywell), Seagram, PepsiCo, and Colgate-Palmolive Company.  During his 16 years at Colgate-Palmolive, Mr. Herrick spent two years working in Brussels, Belgium as a European Treasurer and 3 years in Paris, France as Finance Director of Colgate-Palmolive Global Export.  On the domestic side, Mr. Herrick served as the Director of Corporate Finance and Foreign Exchange.

Mr. Herrick graduated with honors from Dartmouth College with an AB in Physics and a minor in Engineering.  He also earned an MBA in Finance and Marketing from the University of Chicago.


Doug Hoch, Director, Treasury Evangelism, Microsoft Corporation

William F. Gibson, Chief Executive Officer, IVY Creek Associates

William F. Gibson is the CEO of IVY Creek Associates, a consulting firm that provides services globally to financial services firms. The firm’s clients are in The Netherlands, Germany, and the United States. From January 2005 until June 2006, Mr. Gibson was the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Managing Director of Finance, Technology and Operations at New York Life Investment Management LLC (NYLIM), an integrated asset management enterprise serving a variety of sectors – namely retail, institutional, bundled defined contribution and defined benefit, guaranteed products and wholesale. He was responsible for all financial aspects of the business as well as the technology, operations and infrastructure needs of NYLIM. Prior to joining NYLIM, Mr. Gibson was Global Chief Operating Officer for ING Investment Management (INGIM) based in The Hague, The Netherlands. At INGIM, he was responsible for Operations, IT, Finance, Compliance, and Risk Management activities across 26 countries. In addition to this role, Mr. Gibson was also General Manager of Operations and Information Technology at ING, where he helped create a joint venture providing fund administration and custody services in Europe. Before ING, he was the Global Head of Debt Market Operations at Merrill Lynch. Mr. Gibson has also held senior executive positions at a number of top tier financial services firms including Barclays Capital, Manufacturers Hanover, Security Pacific, and American Express.

Craig Jeffery, Managing Partner, Strategic Treasurer

Craig Jeffery formed Strategic Treasurer LLC in 2004 to provide corporate, educational and government entities direct access to comprehensive and current assistance with their treasury and financial process needs.  His over two decades of financial and treasury experience as a practitioner and as a consultant with various financial institutions help organizations craft realistic goals and achieve significant benefits quickly.Mr. Jeffery was previously a Senior Vice President and Practice Leader for Wachovia Treasury & Financial Consulting.  His experience in finance, treasury, consulting and information technology advisory experience encompass numerous industry segments.  He is often quoted in finance and treasury management publications, and is regularly requested to present both in the U.S. and internationally.  Mr. Jeffery has served on the Alexander Hamilton Awards Selection Committee run by Treasury & Risk Magazine.  His most recent column on Treasury appears in the March 2007 issue of Treasury & Risk. Others include January/February, March and October 2005 issues of Financial Executive magazine.Craig graduated from the University of Connecticut, B.S. Accounting.  He is a permanent Certified Cash Manager, an Accredited ACH Professional and a Fellow of the life Management Institute with distinction.

Joshua Kesner, Vice President and Senior Product Manager of Americas Financial Supply Chain Management,
Global Transaction Banking, Deutsche Bank

Joshua Kesner is Vice President and Senior Product Manager of Americas Financial Supply Chain Management.   Based in New York, he is responsible for db-eBills, Deutsche Bank’s electronic invoice presentment and payment solution.  He is also actively involved in enhancing the Bank‘s Supplier Finance product through strategic partnerships that embed Deutsche Bank’s financing services with the platforms of other providers.

Joshua has worked in financial services for thirteen years.   Prior to joining Deutsche Bank in 2007, he spent eleven years at Citibank in various product management roles that supported electronic banking and other technology solutions.  

Joshua holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Queens College.

Gregory Martin, SVP, Corporate Finance & Risk Solutions, Royal Bank of Scotland                           

Gregory Martin joined RBS Greenwich Capital in September 2005 as part of their Corporate Finance & Risk Solutions group in North America where he is focused on structuring risk management and funding strategies that optimize his client’s economic and accounting objectives.

Mr. Martin spent the first 10 years of his career as a CPA at Ernst & Young where he was a senior manager in their Risk Management consulting practice in addition to being a senior manager in their On-Call Accounting Advisory Group.

He left Ernst & Young to accept an industry practice fellowship at the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) where he was a contributing or lead author of FAS 149, FAS 150, and various EITF and DIG issues.  Following the FASB, he joined Goldman Sachs in their Accounting Policy Group focusing on the firm’s global derivative, securities, commodity, and insurance businesses as well as the firm’s treasury activities.

Mr. Martin holds an MBA in Finance from the Columbia Business School.


 
Axel Martinez, Assistant Corporate Treasurer, Google Inc.
    
Axel is responsible for Google’s foreign exchange risk management operations.  He also manages all corporate finance projects in the Treasury organization.  He served as a Director in the Asia Pacific and Latin America Sales Finance team.  He was responsible for building the finance infrastructure in Google’s Latin American offices and he also supported the Sales organization in Australia.  Originally, Axel was part of the Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis team.  He worked on Google’s IPO and was responsible for executing Google’s secondary offering.

Previously, Axel worked at Merrill Lynch in the Financial Sponsors team and at the Chase Manhattan Bank in their Latin America Investment Banking team.  He also served as a personal adviser to the President of the Central Bank of Honduras on the restructuring of the banking industry in Honduras.

Axel earned a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Columbia University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. 

John Masterson, Director, Financial Derivatives, Chicago Bridge & Iron

Mr. Masterson has over 18 years of experience in risk management, derivative trading, domestic and international accounting.  Prior to joining CB&I, he served as Sr. Manager, Derivative Reporting at AEGON Insurance in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  Before joining Aegon he spent 10 years with General Electric.

He holds a B.S in Business Administration from Marshall University, Huntington, West Virginia.  He is a Six Sigma Blackbelt, and has completed advanced management training at the prestigious Jack Welch Leadership Development Center in Crotonville, New York.

Chris Moon, Director, Bankruptcy Claims Market, SecondMarket

As Director of the Bankruptcy Claims Market, Christopher Moon works with creditors interested in monetizing various types of bankruptcy claims they hold (such as vendor receivable claims or lease and contract rejection claims), as well as with different types of investors that purchase these claims, including hedge funds, distressed strategy funds and proprietary trading desks at banks and broker/dealers.  Prior to joining SecondMarket, Mr. Moon was a Vice President in Merrill Lynch’s Global Corporate Principal Investments Group where he specialized in bankruptcy claim sourcing and trading, including a focus on sales coverage of distressed hedge fund/buy-side accounts for the product.  While at Merrill Lynch he had been actively involved in establishing market standards for the trading and settlement of the bankruptcy claim product.  In addition, Mr. Moon has attended and presented at various bankruptcy conferences relating to the claims trading marketplace.  Mr. Moon is a graduate of Columbia College and holds Series 7 and 63 licenses.

Joseph Nametko, Manager, IT, Honeywell International

Joe Nametko has been in IT for over 35 years.  In the early part of his career Joe’s experience ranged from managing a one-man computer center for a small distribution company, to a multi-year project of implementing a global accounting application for a Fortune 100 company throughout Europe and South East Asia. For the last twenty-tree years Joe has worked for Honeywell International leading their Treasury Systems team.  Over the years, Joe’s primary role at Honeywell included the development, implementation and operation of Treasury’s in-house developed web based applications as well as 3rd party applications such as their Treasury Workstations. Joe has a BA in Economics, an AA in IT and has earned numerous IT certifications including certificates in Oracle Development and Database Administration.


 

Daniel Rosenstein, Managing Director and Americas Head of Business Expansion & Treasury Solutions Sales Global Transaction Banking Deutsche Bank

Daniel Rosenstein is Managing Director and Americas Head of Business Expansion & Treasury Solutions Sales. Based in New York, he is responsible for strategic expansion of Trade Finance and Cash Management Corporates in the Americas. Prior to this, Daniel served as Head of US Corporate Cash Management Sales.

Daniel has spent over 20 years working primarily in International Banking . Before joining Deutsche Bank in 2001, Daniel spent 12 years at Citibank in a variety of cash management roles including new product development, product management, sales and sales management.

Daniel holds a Master of Business Administration from Pennsylvania State University and a Bachelor of Arts from Indiana University.

Michael Rose, Vice President , DO2 Technologies

Michael Rose is the Vice President of Business Development for DO2 Technologies.  He manages the DO2 team that offers supply chain solutions, including Supply Chain Finance and physical supply chain document management, to Financial Institutions and their customers. Michael has more than 20 years of international supply chain experience, and has held senior management positions in organizations that have focused on the delivery of Supply Chain solutions to both Global and Regional organizations.

Jeremy A. Smith, Chief Strategy Officer, SecondMarket

Jeremy Smith is responsible for helping set the strategic direction of SecondMarket. He is in charge of the company's marketing, business development, new markets, data & analytics, and market intelligence programs. Prior to joining SecondMarket, Mr. Smith was the President of Arthur Lauer, Inc. where he redesigned and implemented the company’s business strategy and marketing program. Prior to his time at Arthur Lauer, Mr. Smith worked at the private equity firm Alliance Holdings where he aided in developing the firm’s business model and marketing program to enhance its deal sourcing and closing capabilities. Before Alliance Holdings, Mr. Smith was an investment banker at Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin where he focused on valuations, mergers & acquisitions, and corporate restructurings. Mr. Smith graduated with honors from Emory University and received a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

Jeffrey C. Thomson, President and CEO, Institute of Management Accountants (IMA®)

Jeffrey C. Thomson is president and CEO of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA®), the world’s leading association for management accountants focused on driving business performance in the areas of decision support, planning and control.  Mr. Thomson was promoted to this position on April 19, 2008 and is responsible for leading and directing IMA’s operations, programs, products, and services.  He was previously IMA vice president, research and applications development. 

Joining IMA in 2005, Mr. Thomson conceived and launched the IMA Research Center of Excellence, which has delivered global applications, tools, and guidance enabling management accountants to perform as strategic business partners.  He is also responsible for guiding the association’s global strategic planning process and serves as program chair for IMA’s Global Conference and Annual Conference and Exposition. 

Prior to joining IMA, Thomson worked at AT&T for over two decades where he served in various financial, strategic and operational roles.  In his last position at AT&T he served as the CFO for business sales, an $18B revenue operation.  He was responsible for many “firsts” while at AT&T:  implementation of an  Activity-Based Costing program (at a major business billing center); development and implementation of a performance dashboard (Balanced Scorecard); and, first to create and launch a competitive analysis group, which resulted in development of market-driven revenue growth targets and identification of new market opportunities for AT&T.

An author of numerous trade articles, Mr. Thomson has conducted research and spoken globally on a variety of topics, including financial leadership, enterprise risk management, internal controls, business performance management, strategic costing methods, lean accounting, strategic planning, and competitive analysis.  He has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, Compliance Week, Global Risk Regulator, and other global media outlets. 

Mr. Thomson is considered a global thought leader in the emerging area of GRC – governance, risk and compliance.  He has provided testimony to the U.S. Congress on internal controls and risk management as it relates to Sarbanes-Oxley implementation.  Thomson has also appeared before the SEC and PCAOB on critical regulatory matters impacting U.S. global competitiveness.  He is a member of the COSO (Committee of Sponsoring Organizations) Board of Directors, which delivers global guidance on internal controls and enterprise risk management.  In the two years since Thomson has been a COSO board member, COSO has brought more products to market than in the entirety of the previous decade.

Mr. Thomson holds an M.S. degree in Statistics from Montclair State University, received a certificate in Finance and Accounting from the Wharton School, and completed the Columbia University Senior Executive Leadership Program.  In 2008, he also participated in the MIT Sloan School of Management Certificate Program in Innovation.

Jaap Tonckens, Principal, TTAS

Jaap Tonckens is a Principal at TTAS, a financial consulting firm he started in 2008. Before starting his consulting firm, he was a Managing Director at Endurance Capital management, a private equity firm organized to invest in commercial banks. He was previously a Managing Director in Morgan Stanley's Global Capital Markets Group, most recently responsible for origination and execution of capital markets transactions for non-investment grade companies in the consumer, retail and general industrial space. Before that, he headed Morgan Stanley's Acquisition Finance unit in Global Capital Markets. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley he practiced law with the firm of Shearman & Sterling in its New York and Paris offices.

Michele L. Turner, MBCP, FBCI, CISA, Sr. Mgr Enterprise Crisis and Operations Risk Mgmt, Microsoft Corporation
 
Ms. Turner is the Senior Manager of Enterprise Crisis and Operations Risk Management within the Risk and Integration group at Microsoft Corporation in Redmond, Washington. Ms. Turner leads internal Crisis Management efforts as well as the management of the Operations Risk pillar for the organization.  Ms. Turner is a graduate of Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL and has over 15 years experience in Business Continuity Management and Risk related efforts; directly within Financial Institutions, Network Storage Organizations as well as Consulting firms.  Ms. Turner is a member of the Disaster Recovery Journal (DRJ)- Editorial Advisory Board and past Chair of the Strategic Alliances Committee for Disaster Recovery Institute  International (DRII). 

John Tus, Vice President and Treasurer, Honeywell International Inc.

As the Corporate Treasurer, John is responsible for Honeywell's investing and financing policies and activities, including corporate finance, trade and customer finance, cash management, and financial risk management.  John joined Honeywell in 1995 from KPMG LLP and was formerly Honeywell’s Corporate Controller.  John is a graduate of George Washington University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
